Chaplain

That's right, I was officially assessed to active duty as an Army Chaplain this past week. Although I still have this practicum and two classes to finish before I go on active duty, the word is in and it will happen. It's been a pretty amazing and crazy year of preparation but Katie and I are really excited about this opportunity to serve. Thanks to all of you who have supported us and prayed for us. We can't wait to serve soldiers. We'll keep you posted here as to where God takes us. Thanks again.

Rob,

I just wanted to congratulate you for being accepted to active duty. I can’t wait to see and hear how God uses you in the ministry. I am not in the army and I am not a pastor but I just wanted to thank you for posting the journey God has you on. For the past several weeks I have been drawn to yours and other army chaplains (chaplain candidate) stories and ministry. I have since begun praying to see if God wants me to go that direction. I had originally attended Cedarville University for their pastor studies program but decided that maybe it wasn’t my calling (Fear?) so I transferred to the University of Wisconsin Stevens point where I am about finish up my major in Philosophy with an emphasis in Religious Studies.

Your Blog also reintroduced me to the alliance church which I attended few times with some friends back when I was in high school. I myself grew up in the Evangelical Free Church. The reason I bring this up is because I have been searching for a church I can call home. Although God ministered to me in the Evangelical Free Church I find that I don’t agree with some of their doctrines. I also must admit that I have come to enjoy the fellowship of smaller churches that I have attended while at school.

I am interested in hearing more about your schooling. I have been doing my reading and noticed that the army has a credit requirement for the position. I had found many schools that offer masters that go well over that credit limit, however, the schools close at home have much smaller programs like your original masters program. Are the classes you are taking through liberty for an additional masters or are they just additional classes so you hit the army requirement?

Thanks for posting on this blog. I have glad that I was lead to it. You will forever be in my prayers.

Congrats Rob! Maybe you'll end up in the North Country and our paths will cross in between deployments sometime.
